PRIMARIES 2026

San Angelo’s Drew Darby announced his endorsement for Chairman Jim Wright’s re-election to the Texas Railroad Commission in the 2026 March Republican Primary.

According to a news release on Thursday, “Chairman Darby, cited Commissioner Wright’s proven leadership in advancing sound energy regulation, promoting environmental stewardship, and supporting Texas jobs.

Darby believes Wright’s experience in the energy sector and dedication to public service make him the right choice to continue serving Texans.

“As chairman of the Texas House Committee on Energy Resources, I know that keeping West Texas fueling our economy requires a common-sense regulatory approach at the Railroad Commission,” said Chairman Darby. “Commissioner Jim Wright brings real-world experience from both the industry and regulatory side, with a focus on expanding markets, providing regulatory certainty, and encouraging innovation.”

Serving as the chair of Energy Resources, Representative Darby plays a key role in overseeing the Railroad Commission, and regularly collaborates with Commissioner Wright on energy policy and regulatory matters. Together, they have advanced responsible energy development, cut red tape, and supported policies that protect Texas jobs and economic growth.

In the most recent session, they worked closely on House Bill 48 to combat organized criminal cartels targeting Texas oil and gas infrastructure to protect workers, landowners, and critical energy assets. They have also collaborated on policies to ensure responsible produced water management throughout Texas.

“Commissioner Wright understands that oil and gas are more than just three-letter words—they represent the livelihoods of Texans and America’s energy security,” Darby continued. “Jim has the experience and leadership needed to serve on the Railroad Commission of Texas, and I am proud to endorse him for re-election.”
