San Angelo Broadway Academy brings the Christmas world of Dr. Seuss to life during the Whoville Holiday Market on Sunday, November 16th from 3 to 6 p.m. at First Methodist Church, 37 E. Beauregard.
Kicking off a week of holiday fun, wrapping up with their production of “How The Grinch Stole Christmas: The Musical”, which runs through November 21 to 23, at Murphey Performance Hall.
Angela Shanks, academy director, says the idea started years ago, but this year they’re expanding:
“We had tea parties for children where the whole family could come and enjoy treats, with a sneak peak performances from our cast; learn a short dance, and do show themed arts and crafts.
“This year, we wanted to create something different for the entire family and be able to include our local vendors as the holiday approaches.”
Over 35 local vendors are booked, along with children’s activities like grinch-themed cookie decorating, a coloring station, and ornament making for the first 200 kids. Free pictures with the Grinch will also be available.
The cast will tour the market dressed in costumes and doing pop-up performances, a sneak peak of the show.
The production of How the Grinch Stole Christmas will feature over 135 students, and promises to deliver an adventure filled with laughter, mayhem, and holiday spirit.
Tickets for the Whoville Market are $10 per person and children 2 and under are free.
You can purchase ticket at the door; event organizers highly encourage people to purchase them online prior to the event.
