OBITUARY

Charles Arthur Walker of Big Lake; died on December 13, at the age of 88.

Charles Arthur Walker, affectionately known as Charlie, was born on Saturday, March 22, 1937, in Clay, TX, to Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie and Jessie Mae Walker.

Charlie attended primary school at College Station Elementary School in Clay, and later graduated from Ector High School in Odessa. After graduation, he began working at Odessa Medical Center. He later started a long and dedicated career with Occidental Oil Company, where he worked faithfully for 27 years before retiring.

In July of 1982, Charlie met Annis Tilmon in Brownwood. They were married on January 1, 1983, and shared 42 loving years together until his passing.

Charlie was deeply involved in his community. He served as a City Councilman for four years, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, supported the Food Bank of Big Lake, and was an avid golfer. He was also a longtime and faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Big Lake, Texas, until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Jessie Mae Walker; his son, Charles Walker, Jr.; siblings, Lorraine Collins and George Ray Walker; grandchildren, Michael D. Tilmon and Mayere R. Tilmon; one great-grandson, Kaleb Johnson; and one great-great-granddaughter, Zamiyah Rodriguez.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Annis Walker; his children, David Wayne Walker (Leslie) of La Vernia, TX, Teresa Walker Butler, and Victor Drake Walker of Waco; and his bonus children, Milton Tilmon (Jodie) of Kerrville, Velma Butler (Neil) of Irving, Janet Bagley (James) and Aundrea Scott (Benjamin) of Brownwood, Michael Tilmon of Seattle, WA, and Crist Coleman (Dexter) of Grand Prairie, TX.

He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; his siblings, Johnnie Mae Carter of Odessa, and Annie B. Sheppard of Fort Worth; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends whom he lovingly called family.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 18th, 2025, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Big Lake with burial to follow at Glen Rest Cemetery.
