I am running for Tom Green County Commissioner, Precinct 2 because I want to make a difference, not only for the constituents in Precinct 2, but for all of Tom Green County.

I want to make sure that everyone’s voice is heard. I am a native of Tom Green County, born in San Angelo and a graduate of Central High School and Angelo State University. I have been in the homebuilding industry almost 35 years, 23 of those successfully running my own company, Decker Custom Homes, Inc.

My experience has afforded me the opportunity to work effectively with city, county and state officials, even working through those topics no one wanted to discuss. I have given back to the Concho Valley all of my adult life. Many of the boards I have served on or continue to serve are: Howard College Foundation, Home Builders Association of San Angelo, SAISD & Howard College Construction Trades Advisory Boards, Texas Association of Builders, volunteer for the San Angelo Livestock Show & Rodeo and even the Wall Little League. I have chaired committees and even served as the presidentt of the HBA of San Angelo three times.

I am a proven leader, but am also a great listener. I have seen the great strides we’ve made over my adult life, but I’ve also seen some shortcomings. I want to give back by working diligently for Precinct 2 to focus on lowering taxes, maintaining and improving roads and ensure we have responsible growth. My record also shows that I fully stand behind the Sheriff’s office and all first responders.

What are your top priorities?

Since filing for office, I have spent most of December and January talking to constituents – going door to door, talking at coffee shops and special events. My priorities are THEIR priorities. Taxes, home & property appraisal values, roads, drainage, mowing of ditches and responsible growth. None of these have been a surprise, as they have been my concerns as a taxpayer, county resident and business owner. No one will work harder on these priorities than myself. I am deeply rooted in the community and county and want nothing more than to make Tom Green County and Precinct 2 better than ever.

What issues have constituents told you they were concerned about?

Taxes, roads (maintenance and improvements) and drainage issues seem to be the top concerns from the conversations I’ve had. I’m looking forward to getting in office, rolling up my sleeves and working my tail off for Precinct 2. I can’t and won’t promise to fix everything overnight, but I will promise to work hard, give 100% and make a difference.

Any plans for rallies, town halls, or meetings in the near future?

I am working on a couple of meet and greet opportunities between now and election day.

I will be speaking at the San Angelo Home Builders Association luncheon 2/17/26 at 11:30 AM; at the ASU LeGrand Center, 2/12/26; at a candidate forum at 6:00 PM at the Arc Light Lounge; at the San Angelo Pachyderm Club 2/18/26 at 11:30 AM at the Arc Light Lounge, and finally there is a forum held by Conexion, the NAACP and M.A.N.O. on 2/23/26 at 6 p.m. at the Tom Green County Library.

I’d be happy to visit with anyone after any of these events. Please also check my Facebook page for possible other events: “Chad Decker for County Commissioner Precinct 2” Facebook page.

Tom Green County District 2 is currently vacant, previously held by the late Sammy Farmer. Chad Decker will face Todd Smith in the Republican primary.
