MEET THE CANDIDATES

EDITOR’S NOTE: As 2026 shapes up as a historic midterm year, The Concho Observer’s will be publishing questionnaires sent to local candidates for our “Meet the Candidate” series.

Name: August Pfluger (R)

Running for: Republican Nomination for U.S. House TX-11 (Incumbent)

Why are you running/seeking re-election?

Webb, Stokes & Sparks Personal Injury Law

Serving the 11th District of Texas – the best district in the country – is the honor of a lifetime. I am humbled by the opportunity to represent our community in Washington and carry with me the priorities of the good and hardworking people of West and Central Texas. Texas is the best place to live, work, and raise a family, and I am committed to keeping it that way as your elected representative.

What are your top priorities?

My top priority has been delivering the gold-standard of constituent services for people in need. The results speak for themselves. My office was selected as the 2025 DemocracyAward Winner for Best Constituent Services and Outreach. My office helped return $17.3 million to constituents. We have answered over 122,700 letters from constituents, hosted over 110 town hall meetings, and resolved over 4,475 issues with federal agencies.

When voting in Congress, I reflect every day on the people who sent me here. Your priorities are my priorities, and accordingly, I have made myself the leading advocate for energy, agriculture, and national security. In Washington, I get results on these issues and more. I have passed more legislation than anyone else, including billions in relief for our farmers and ranchers, and repealing the natural gas tax that would have hit middle-class families hard. I authored the provision to start refilling the Strategic Petroleum Reserve when prices are low to save taxpayers billions. My actions secured $13.5 billion in border reimbursements for Texas – a huge windfall for taxpayers. I am Goodfellow’s strongest ally in Congress and secured millions – $112 million just this past year – in facility improvements, protected critical missions, and brought high ranking officials to base to keep our capabilities here front-of-mind.

The issue of affordability will continue to be my focus. In fact, I am the first lawmaker to unveil major affordability legislation this year.

What issues have constituents told you they were concerned about?

I hear every day from Texans that affordability is their number one concern, which is why it will be my top legislative focus in 2026. Through the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, we already secured the largest tax cut in history to put more money back in the hands of hardworking Texans this tax season. I also helped eliminate over $2 trillion dollars in government waste and single-handedly delivered billions in federal dollars to Texas. We have accomplished a lot, but there is much more to do, and I will continue to deliver.

Any plans for rallies, town halls, or meetings in the near future?

I have held over 110 in-person town halls and have visited every single county in the district several times. I will, of course, continue to have town halls across the district that will be announced on my Facebook page.

U.S. House of Representatives for Texas, District 11 is currently occupied by August Pfluger. He will face Claire Reynolds (D) or Pedro Ruiz (D) in the November general election.
