Angelo State University hosts their first college rodeo at the new Fiesta Arena, beside the fairgrounds on Grape Creek Road. In the words of one announcer: the first day of a hundred-year tradition.
The crowd was eager to watch the landmark event: riders and ropers from Angelo State, Cisco College, Tarleton State, and others, charge out bucking and battling in bareback riding. Calf and steer roping were a big hit as well. The event could grow into a real phenomenon over the next few years, as more and more schools in Texas expand their Rodeo teams.

The excitement continues October 24 and 25.
