TxDOT Art Contest Winners Named

Kimble County's Olivia Harames, a 7th grader at Junction Middle School, won the contest explaining how using a seatbelt can be as big as a prize for a real buckle.

The Texas Department of Transportation’s San Angelo District is proud to announce the winners of the 2025 Traffic Safety Art Contest.

Kimberly Marie Reyes, 4th, Rocksprings ISD was the K-4th grade division winner.

And The Winners Are:

Kindergarten – 4th grade

  • Kimberly Marie Reyes, 4th, Rocksprings ISD
  • Finalists: Nyla Zamora, 3rd, Olfen ISD; Dominic Flores, 3rd, Olfen ISD; Nereya Perez, 3rd, Olfen ISD; Estefanie Gonzales, 3rd, Menard ISD

5th – 8th Grade

  • Olivia Harames, 7th, Junction ISD
  • Finalists: Bryce Sullivan, 8th, Junction ISD; Hadley Harrison, 6th, Wall ISD; Makenna Sophia Martinez, 6th, Junction ISD ; Isabella Ibarra, 5th, Olfen ISD.

The annual contest invites students in grades K-8 across the region to creatively express the importance of traffic safety through original artwork.

This year, there were more than 200 entries submitted from students across 15 counties in the San Angelo District, including Coke, Concho, Crockett, Edwards, Glasscock, Irion, Kimble, Menard, Reagan, Real, Runnels, Schleicher, Sterling, Sutton, and Tom Green.

Finalists in two age divisions—Kindergarten through 4th grade and 5th through 8th grade—were selected by District Engineer, Chris Cowen based on creativity, message clarity, and relevance to traffic safety. Over 200 TxDOT San Angelo employees then cast their votes to determine the winners.
