The action items for the San Angelo Independent School District (SAISD) Board of Trustees meeting this evening includes considering and approving the Transition Plan to the Bluebonnet Learning curriculum, and certification of provision of materisls

These are both crucial steps in implementing the Board’s decision to adopt the Bluebonnet Learning Curriculum, which it did during its pre-agenda workshop on March 10, 2025.

Transition Plan

A school district is required to submit a transition plan when first adopting a State Board of Education (SBOE)-approved curriculum, in this case Bluebonnet Learning. The transition plan will be presented to the public at the meeting.

Certification

The certification is required because the Texas Legislature created an Instructional Materials Allotment for the purchase of instructional materials. School districts are entitled to an annual allotment from the state instructional materials fund for each student enrolled in the district.

To be eligible to receive those funds, SAISD is required to certify annually to the State Board of Education (SBOE) and the Commissioner that students have access to instructional materials covering all Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Additionally, they are required to certify that they protect against access to obscene or harmful content in compliance with state law.

SAISD is not able to place requisitions or disbursement requests for the 2025-2026 Allotment through the TEA Education Material Ordering System (EMAT) until the Texas Education Agency (TEA) has received the certification.

Also on the Agenda

  • Middle Of Year (MOY) Academic Performance Report.
  • Legislative Update.
  • Quarterly Investment Report.
  • Approval of bids for Child Nutrition Department.
  • TASB Board Policy Updates.
  • Consider Administrators Contracts.
  • Purchase of 2025 Ultra Coachliner Bus

The SAISD Board meeting will be held tonight at the SAISD Administration Building 1621 University Drive San Angelo at 5:30 p.m. You can review the entire agenda here.
