Well-known Tom Green County Commissioner Sammy Farmer passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 20, following an illness according to his family. He was 74 years old.
Farmer served several years as Precinct 2 commissioner, with more than 30 years of service in San Angelo with M.L. Leddy Boots and Saddlery. He served as Commissioner since 2019.
Farmer’s daughter, Tara Kelly, shared the news of her father’s death on local social media, and hundreds of heartfelt thoughts began filling the post’s comments.
“Today was the day- my daddy has gained his angel wings & is celebrating his life in heaven. We are so honored to have called him ours & the memories of greatness are never ending.
“Not many people are as blessed as we are to have had a father & pappy like we did & we are eternally grateful.
“Thank you all for the prayers, the love you have shown our family, & the friendships & strength you showed my dad.
“We will keep you all posted on when his celebration of life will be- but until then- go rest high sweet Pappy! We will do our best to continue to make you proud.”
Farmer retired from M.L. Leddy’s in 2024. He has served Tom Green County as Commissioner for Pct. 2 since 2019.
Tom Green County officials say in a social media post that a Visitation for Farmer will be on Tuesday, January 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, 90 E. 14th St.
A Memorial Service for Farmer will be on Wednesday, January 28, at 10 a.m., also at Immanuel Baptist Church.
