Sometimes, a little bureaucracy can help get things done more quickly, so Texas residents with property damage to their homes or businesses will need to complete the Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT) damage survey.
According to information from the state, the iSTAT assessment helps city, county and state officials determine eligibility for various forms of disaster assistance.
Information provided in these surveys also help officials to connect impacted Texans with available disaster-recovery resources.
The iSTAT surveys can be filled out in English or Spanish by visiting damage.tdem.texas.gov and clicking “July 2 Ongoing Severe Weather.”
Here is a look at how the process works, and what to expect when filling out an iSTAT for your residential, commercial, or agricultural property.
Fine Print
Filling out an iSTAT form is not a request for reimbursement or an application for financial assistance, and it does not guarantee disaster relief assistance. Claims should still be filed as normal with insurance companies.
