The death toll from Independence Day flooding in Texas over the weekend surpassed 100 Monday as search-and-rescue crews used heavy equipment and helicopters in the massive effort to find people who are still missing.

Authorities said they will wait to address questions about when weather warnings were issued, and why some camps did not evacuate ahead of the flooding.

As funerals are being planned throughout the state, 104 people are known to have lost their lives so far.

Searchers found the bodies of 84 people, including 28 children, in Kerr County, home to Camp Mystic and several other summer camps, officials said. Nineteen deaths were reported in Travis, Burnet, Kendall, Tom Green and Williamson counties.

Tanya Burwick, 62, went missing as she went to work early Friday at a Walmart. Police found her submerged SUV later in the day, and her body was found the following morning, several blocks from her vehicle.

“We ask that the public continue to keep the Burwick family in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this heartbreaking tragedy,” the San Angelo Police Department said in a Facebook post.
