Standups and Local Country: The San Angelo Scene

Plateau Brewing Co. is growing into a pretty cool spot in town, with original artwork from local artists, and live music every weekend. Local artist Jacob Childress is set to perform on Friday, but don’t forget their trivia nights and brunches as well.

You might also want to drop by the Picker’s Circle at the Chicken Farm this Saturday morning, where you’re bound to meet a few new friends, and hopefully learn some new tunes.

As for the open mics at the Garden Lounge, it seems like those are on hold for now, but hopefully in the near future we’ll see someone take that on again.

Rodney Carrington is set to put on a show at Murphey Performance Hall this Saturday. Born in Longview, he started out as a stand-up comedian, which eventually landed him a gig on national radio and a sitcom. Since 1998 he’s been writing “neo-country” and comedy songs, though he does release “non-funny” music as well.
