OBITUARY

The world grew a little dimmer on February 18, 2026, when Shannon Nicole Tappan left this life at the age of 44. Born on July 7, 1981, Shannon lived with a heart full of color, compassion, and inner strength.

She leaves behind her four children, Caleb Touhey and Gabriel, Katelynn and Oliver Tappan; grandparents Robert and Jane Carr; Grandmother Joy Lucas; parents Kevin and Robin Touhey; sister Aimee Martin; brother Michael Touhey and his wife Sarah. Brother Jaron Touhey and wife Bethany; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; and countless friends. All were touched profoundly by her presence.

A graduate of Central High School’s Class of 1999, in San Angelo, Texas, Shannon carried her education into a life defined not by titles, but by the way she loved, she eased others’ pain with her skill of massage but warmed the heart through her passion of baking. Her macaroons were amazing! Shannon’s hugs made you feel warm and safe, and her expression of love ran the gamut of gentle to fierce, reflecting the many shades of her favorite color, purple. Like her beloved sunflowers, Shannon stood tall, bold, and resilient, bringing vibrant energy to those around her.

Shannon was there for others in their pain and struggles, though dealing with her own. She let them know they were valued and loved, and that they would be okay. Yet Shannon’s greatest legacy is her children. They are kind, supportive and courageous. They are strong and ready to meet any challenge and triumph. Her love- steady, fierce and everlasting- lives on in them.

Shannon often felt alone, but she mattered. She mattered so much! Her love, laughter, and strength remain woven into the lives of all who knew her. And even in her passing, she gave the gift of life to others whom she never met. She is deeply, achingly missed, but her laughter rings in our ears and her love still warms our hearts.

A Celebration of Shannon’s life will be 10 a.m., Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Northridge Baptist Church. Inurnment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
