The Rural First Initiative is holding “We The People Have A Voice” listening sessions to give everyone the opportunity to share what’s on their minds.
RFI organizer Michal LePak says he’s looking forward to hearing what folks have to say.
The next one is slated for 5-7 p.m. Friday under the pavilion at Firefighters Memorial City Park, 315 E. Twohig Ave. in San Angelo.
“Everyone deserves to feel seen and heard, so this is their chance!”
LePak said he began working on this project about a year ago, after thinking about how people need to be talking more in order to bridge divides in America.
He said these listing sessions will use a “Fireside Chat” model, which he hopes will put people at ease, creating an atmosphere where they can share their thoughts.
LePak hopes the idea will spread — and ultimately — help communities come together to develop good ideas and solve problems.

“There’s no script or speeches,” he explained, “Everyone is welcome to talk; we’re just there to help guide the discussions.”
LePak said they will also be out in support of the “Rock The Vote” event slated for Oct. 4 in San Angelo.
Following the San Angelo events, RFI’s next listening session will take place during two sessions at the Public Library in Bastrop on Oct. 18, beginning at 9 a.m.
Michael LePak is a retired US Army veteran and Bronze Star recipient.
