OBITUARY

Richard Caballero Lopez passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025, leaving behind a family who loved him dearly and memories that will last forever.

Born on January 25, 1945, Richard Lopez lived 80 years filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Though our hearts are heavy, we are comforted knowing he is now reunited with his beloved wife in heaven.

Richard proudly served his country and built a life centered on family and kindness. His home was a gathering place: warm, welcoming, and always smelling of something delicious he was cooking. Richard loved to cook for his family, and everyone looked forward to the meals he made with so much care.

He married Paula Hurtado in 1977, and they enjoyed 45 years of marraige before she passed away on February 25, 2023. Paula was the president and founder of Women of Power Ministries.

His sense of humor, bright smile, and joyful spirit could light up even the hardest days. He loved cookies, fixing things, and taking drives in his truck. He was supportive, genuine, and deeply loved by his children, and his grandchildren knew him as wonderfully silly and always present.

His legacy will live on in the laughter he created, the meals he cooked, the love he shared, and the countless memories he left behind. He will be forever missed.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Paula Lopez; a son, Stephen Lopez; and two grandchildren, Richard “Ricky” Dan Lopez II and Jonathan Kouri Scott Mahoney.

Richard is survived by six children, Angela Lopez-Soto and husband Cristino of San Angelo, David Contreras of San Angelo, Rosemarie Lopez-Servin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Richard Dan Lopez of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sonia Lopez-Guerrero and husband Mauro of DeLand, Florida; a niece, Tina Vargas, who was raised as a daughter, and her husband Mike “Mikenstein”; a daughter-in-law, Angela Lopez of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four siblings, Stephen Cerda and wife Sonia of Dallas, Alice Barron of San Angelo, Mary Gutierrez of San Angelo, and Linda Lopez of Canada; 19 grandchildren, Desiree Salazar, Dominick Briseno, Alex Fuentes, Gabriel Contreras, James Contreras, Christopher Contreras, Erik Servin, Isaac Servin, Alyssa Lopez, Alexandra Lopez, Angelina Lopez, Brittany M Guerrero, Bianca L. Guerrero-Carbajal, Barbie L. Guerrero, Bailey Rudlang, Stephen Lopez, Rachel Lopez-Schommer, Elias Sanchez, Yelena Sanchez, Nikolai Sanchez, Mario Vargas, and Benji Vargas; numerous great grandchildren.
