Following the shooting of Minneapolis resident Renee Nicole Good during a protest against ICE presence in her neighborhood, counter protests have erupted around the nation demanding accountability for the incident.
Among them, local civic group West Texas Indivisible has announced that it will hold a protest at Civic League Park in San Angelo, on Saturday, Jan. 10 at noon. The group encourages those who wish to protest to bring signs and remain civil.
The State of Minnesota announced Thursday that it would no longer be able to investigate the shooting, as they said Federal investigators had seized crucial evidence.
The incident is being described by President Donald Trump as a lawful self-defense, claiming that Good had run over the agent in question, and “behaved horribly.” Mayor of Minneapolis Jacob Frey described this as false, and the video released by investigators shows the car turning away from the officer in question as he drew his weapon and fired.
As of time of publication, local leaders in Minneapolis have asked the state to continue its investigation.
