OBITUARY

Misty Dawn Smith, 51, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026.

She was born on March 11, 1974, in Amarillo, to Shelia Osborne Daniel.

Misty spent her early years in Amarillo, where she attended Amarillo High School and later earned her GED. From a young age, she demonstrated a strong sense of determination and creativity that followed her throughout her life.

On June 15, 2018, Misty married the love of her life, Gaylon Smith, in Odessa. Their marriage was filled with love, companionship, and shared laughter.

Misty dedicated 15 years of her professional life to Women’s Health Care, a place she truly cherished. Her work was more than a job—it was a calling. She loved her coworkers, took pride in her role, and found deep fulfillment in serving others.

As a young woman, Misty was an accomplished swimmer and diver—an achievement she carried with pride. She also possessed a strong entrepreneurial spirit, owning and operating her own doll business and traveling to trade shows, experiences she thoroughly enjoyed. In her quieter moments, she found joy in painting and fishing, but nothing compared to the love she had for her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her world.

Misty is survived by her loving children, Cuyler, Ashley, and Aidan; her cherished grandchildren, Owen and Lucas; her parents, Kirk and Shelia Daniel; her brother, Chris Osborne and wife Carolyn, and their children Lauren, Emily (Brett), and Maddie; her sister, Carla O’Neal; her uncles, Greg and Lynn Osborne; step-sisters, Brandi and Samantha; step brother, Marty Nickels. Then of course her beloved dogs, Togy, Moby, Clark, and Raven, who brought her great comfort and companionship.

A celebration of Misty’s life will be held on Friday, January 30th, 2026, at 11 a.m. at South Georgia Baptist Church, located at 5209 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of San Angelo and Park Plaza Nursing Home for their extraordinary care, compassion, and support during Misty’s final days.

Misty will be remembered for her strength, creativity, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she shared.
