OBITUARY

Mary Minette Hinrichs Cantrell was born March 19, 1937 to Ernest Hinrichs and Minnie Dora Lowe Hinrichs in Runnels County.

Mary was reunited in heaven with her loving husband L.A. Cantrell Jr. on January 11, 2026 at the age of 88.

Mary grew up in Concho and Runnels Co and graduated from Paint Rock High School.

Mary and L.A. married June 23, 1956 in Paint Rock, and were married for 57 years. Shortly after they married, they were stationed to Ft. Bragg, N.C. where their first child Alton was born. Mary and L.A. moved back to Texas and lived in Ballinger, where their second child Mandy was born.

Mary worked for Sears as a customer sales clerk for over 20 years, and then at Eckerd Drugs in the pharmacy for the next decade. After retirement she spent her days farming and ranching with her husband.

Mary was a very humble, kind and sweet mom and memaw who loved her family immensely. She will be missed by all who had the opportunity to know her.

Mary is survived by her son Alton (Janice) of San Angelo and daughter Mandy (Corine) of Castroville, TX, her grandchildren, Candice Cantrell and son Jace Gaines, Dustin Stewart and his children, Lane, Connor, Autumn, Olive and Evander Stewart, Jonathan Santos, Brandi Cantrell Bockhorn (Derek) and daughters Aubrey and Brynn Bockhorn. She is also survived by brother, Carl Hinrichs (Emma) and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to visitation on Wednesday, January 14, prior to the service from 12 to 1 p.m. at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Procession will leave at 1:15 p.m. to a graveside service at Mullins Cemetery at 2 p.m. with Mills Caraway officiating.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Stewart, Jonathan Santos, Derek Bockhorn, Layne Lisenbee, Tyler Park and Bruce Gully.

The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks and appreciation to all of the staff at The Springs Memory Care, Gentiva Hospice and Dr. John Harvey for all of the loving care given to Mary.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity.
