In his later teens, Martin made his way to the United States looking for better opportunities. Joining the Bracerros, he found work in Rocksprings, Texas.

On December 25, 1954, Martin married the love of his life Guadalupe Rodriguez. A few years later he was blessed with 2 sons; Martin Ramirez, Jr. and Arturo (Tudy) Ramirez.

In 1962, with lots of hard work and dedication he received passports for his young family. Martin then brought them to the Rudasill Ranch in Rocksprings, Texas.

Later, he was blessed with a daughter Leticia (Lety). Looking for better opportunities Martin brought his family to the oil field of Big Lake, Texas. There, he was blessed with more children; Gilbert (Beto), Irma (Mima) and Elizabeth (Lisa).

Martin worked many years in the oilfield, from roustabout to pulling units, until his retirement in 1998. Martin, being the hard worker he was, could not stay in retirement, so he found himself working for the City of Big Lake under the Green Thumb group.

Martin loved his wife dearly and was a devoted family man to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He loved having family around him. He was an active church member and a firm believer in his Catholic faith. He also loved joining family and friends at parties, quinceaneras, and weddings. He loved cooking various kinds of meats in his underground hole for any occasion. Martin never met a stranger and would do whatever he could to help anyone in need. He touched many people throughout his life even to the very last days at the Reagan County Care Center.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Esperanza and one brother; Juan.

He is survived by his wife Guadalupe Ramirez to whom he was married to for 70 years; his children Martin Ramirez, Jr. (Vangie), Arturo “Tudy” Ramirez (Rosalinda), Leticia Factor (Chris), Gilbert Ramirez (Juanita), Irma Rivero (Miguel), Elizabeth Villalpando (Rey) and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also, by long time friends, George Thompson, who never missed the opportunity to come visit when he came to Big Lake, Jimmy Rudasill and Susie Rudasill Moore and many friends.

The Ramirez family would like to give thanks to all the staff and personnel at RCCC and the hospice team out of San Angelo that worked together to love and care for him.

Via Con Dios, Dad, and rest in peace.
