OBITUARY

Iris Frances Warren went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 2, 2026.

Iris was born on February 4, 1936, in Runnels County, TX to Ephraim and Bertie White. The youngest of five children, Iris was well loved, doted on, and famously determined from a young age.

While in high school, Iris became pen pals with Lee “Gene” Warren, who was enlisted in the U.S. Navy and stationed in Hawaii. He spent his leaves at home with Iris, and they were married on March 20, 1954, in Kermit, TX.

Iris and Gene had their first daughter, Denise, in 1958, followed by a second daughter, Deann, in 1961. After moving to San Angelo in 1961, Iris worked for National Life Insurance Company and later for the Texas Attorney General’s Office, retiring in 1997. Through her work, she met coworkers who became lifelong friends.

Iris had a fun filled life and spent her days doing various activities including gardening, traveling and needlepoint. She adored playing games (as long as you followed the rules), especially bridge. She was a longstanding local player and achieved the rank of Gold Life Master in 2018. She was also a Daughter of the Nile at Temple Ziphron No. 100.

Iris is survived by her daughter, Deann, and husband Rob Zetzman of San Angelo; grandchildren Dell and wife Kaitlyn Zetzman, Jessica and husband Leon Durning, Amy Zetzman and Husband Colby Latham, Alicia and husband Dave Morris, and Beth Zetzman and husband Brandon Barta. Her pride and joy were her great-grandchildren: Haylee, Jade, and Lyla Zetzman; Eleanor Durning; and Valerie Zetzman and Rylie Latham.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gene, her beautiful daughter, Denise, her parents, siblings, and many beloved friends who kept her company during the past few years.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Regency House aides and nursing staff for their care and comfort as well as to her beloved friends who kept her company during the past few years.

A memorial service will be held on January 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Harper Funeral Home with Jim Benson officiating. Visitation immediately following memorial service will be held at the Suez Shrine Temple family and friends. Memorials may be made to Suez Shrine, Daughters of the Nile, or the San Angelo Bridge Club.
