OBITUARY

Irineo Mares-Aguilar, called Neo, was born on June 29, 1961, in Villa Union, Coahuila, Mexico, and passed away on October 16, 2025, at the age of 64.

Neo was the first-born child of Constantino and Petra Mares and the oldest of six siblings: Aurora, Magdalena, Arturo, Juan, and Matilde.

During his childhood, he helped his father with livestock, shaping his hard-working spirit. At age 14, he moved to Texas to pursue the American dream.

Neo started his own drywall business three decades ago, building a life and fostering many friendships along the way.

He married his wife, Maria Antonia Mares, 40-years ago, and together they had three children: Adriana, Irineo Jr., and Melissa.  His family grew with the addition of three wonderful grandchildren—Zaylee Mares, and Elijah and Carson Loos. Memories of traveling and sharing special moments with them being among his greatest joys.

Neo’s favorite pastime was going gambling at the casino in Eagle Pass, a fond activity that brought him joy. The world feels sadder without Neo—it’s hard to imagine life without his presence. He touched everyone around him, leaving behind cherished memories that will last forever.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Hospice of San Angelo, Familia Almazan, and Familia Alvarado for their care and support during this time.
