The San Angelo Hispanic Heritage Museum & Cultural Center announced its Hispanic Heritage Month Kickoff will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, on the steps of San Angelo City Hall, 72 W. College Ave.
Organizers aim to bring the community together for a morning filled with live performances, traditional music, and dance as “a vibrant celebration honoring the rich traditions, heritage, and contributions of the Hispanic community in San Angelo and beyond.”
“Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate culture, unity, and the incredible impact of the Hispanic community on our city,” said board member Lisa DeHoyos, “This kickoff event is not only a celebration, but also an invitation for the entire community to come together in recognition and pride.”
Fundraising Banquet at CJ Davidson Center Later This Month
The Spanish presence in Texas dates back to 1528, and the San Angelo Hispanic Heritage Museum & Cultural Center’s end goal is to honor nearly 500 years of history, and educate the public about the important contributions of Hispanic people in the area with a dedicated facility.
The annual banquet is slated for 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Angelo State University’s CJ Davidson Conference Center, featuring guest speaker Wilmer Valderrama, actor of “That 70’s Show” fame, with a catered dinner, silent auction, and their Community Awards Ceremony.
All proceeds will go toward the museum.
