OBITUARY

Gertrude Dehoyos Zapata, 81, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on January 30, 2026.

Gertrude was born on November 26, 1944, to Juan and Jesusita Zapata. She was a woman of deep and abiding faith whose life reflected her love for God and her devotion to family. Her faith guided her daily, offering strength, peace, and compassion that she freely shared with others.

Family was at the center of Gertrude’s life. She cherished time spent with loved ones and found her greatest joy in caring for them. Her love extended through generations, and she held her family close to her heart.

She is survived by her brother, Gilbert Zapata; her nephews, Gabriel Zapata and wife Jennifer, and Joseph Zapata; her grand nieces and nephews, Kristian Zapata, Cody (Briana) Zapata, and Kathryn (Angel) Hernandez; and eight great-grand nieces and nephews, whom she loved with all her heart.

Gertrude will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she has been welcomed into eternal rest with her Lord.

A memorial service for Gertrude will be held February 12, 2026, at 1 pm in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel

“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.”— Matthew 25:23

Thank you, St. Gabriel’s Hospice Onedia and Donna for the great care!
