OBITUARY
Genaro S. Carrasco Jr., 65, of San Angelo, was called home to heaven on February 10, 2026. Genaro was born on December 22, 1960, in San Angelo, to Genaro Carrasco Sr. and Antonia Argo. He was a proud veteran, father, and cherished friend.
Genaro graduated from San Angelo Central High School, Class of 1979, where he was a dedicated athlete on the Bobcat football team. He played with heart and grit, earning the respect of his coaches and teammates for his leadership and commitment both on and off the field.
Following high school, Genaro proudly answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps. Over the course of 20 years, serving in the Marine Corps, Marine Corps Reserve, and Navy Reserve, he rose to the rank of E-5 and earned numerous commendations for his dedication and leadership. During his time in the service, he earned awards such as the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Kuwait Liberation Medal. One of his most significant achievements was his participation in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, for which he was proud to earn the U.S. Army Airborne Parachutist Badge. His military service remained one of the greatest honors of his life, and he carried that pride with him always.
Genaro is preceded in death by his father, Genaro Carrasco Sr., and his brothers, Alex, Jimmy, and Danny Carrasco.
He is survived by his children Halle, Jake, Jon-Marc, and Lauren Carrasco, and their mother, Lisa Carrasco, as well as his daughter, Jennifer Carrasco. Survivors also include his brothers Joe Carrasco, Johnny Carrasco, and his wife, Tricia, Hector Rios and his wife, Brandy. He is also survived in life by his beloved uncle, George Carrasco, and his lifelong friend Hector Perez.
Survivors also include his sisters-in-law, Sandra Lopez and husband, J.R. Lopez. Gracie Grimaldo and his in-laws, Narciso and Linda Grimaldo, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosary will be held on Sunday, February 15th, at 6 p.m. in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, February 16th, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. All who knew and loved Genaro are welcome to attend and help celebrate his life.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Carrasco, Joe Carrasco, Bruce Fields, J.R. Lopez, Hector Perez, and Hector Rios.
