OBITUARY

Emily Jordan Smith, 25, of San Angelo, passed away surrounded by love on October 8, 2025.

Born in San Angelo on October 14, 1999, Emily was a lifelong member of the community she so deeply loved. She attended school through SAISD and proudly graduated from Central High School, where she made countless memories and made lifelong friends.

Emily was known for her quick wit, her huge heart, and her fierce loyalty — especially when it came to her sports teams. A die-hard Texas Longhorn fan, Emily lived and breathed the burnt orange spirit. She tolerated the Dallas Cowboys, but her devotion to the Texas Rangers and Dallas Stars was unwavering. She was thrilled to attend the Rangers’ first-ever World Series win and could recite rosters like a pro. Emily even kept a running list of “players who hurt her players” — proof of her humor and her passion for the games she loved.

Beyond sports, Emily’s truest victories were in the lives she touched. Friends often described her as a bright light — kind, genuine, and full of laughter. Even those who knew her for a short time carried her friendship with them for years. Emily had a rare ability to make everyone feel seen, included, and loved.

She is survived by her parents, Todd and Sandy Smith; brother, Brandon Smith and his fiancée Maya Rietz; her fiancée, Aaron Benson; and her faithful kitty Lynyrd Skynyrd BenSmith (Lenny). Her Mee Maw Judy Smith and Grandma Pam Nester; Relatives Lisa and Greg Williams, Shana and Stephen Freeman, Mandy Smith and Keith, and Lee and Jessica Nester; cousins Sloan Smith, Raegan Smith, Justin Smith, Clara Nester, Addie Nester, Karlyn Williams, and Alexandra Williams-Carroll.

She is preceded in death by her Grandpa Rick Nester, Paw Paw Ronnie Smith, and her beloved cat Maeve.

Emily’s laughter, warmth, and unstoppable spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. She was a bright light who loved deeply, cheered loudly, and made every moment count.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church, downtown San Angelo.
