County Judge Lane Carter and Pct. 4 Commissioner Shawn Nanny were out of town for governmental training. County Commissioners Hoelscher, Farmer and Bacon declared a quorum and took care of the day’s business. Mr. Bacon presided in the center seat.
The Commissioners Court had a light in addition to the usual items on the consent agenda, the Court:
- Approved the renewal of the Candid Community subscription as presented by TGC Library Director Jill Donegan. The service is a nonprofit resource tool. It provides access to a directory of foundations, with other tools to aid nonprofits and governments in securing grant funding.
- Approved the agreement from the Texas Military Preparedness Commission for the Defense Control Access Point project at Goodfellow AFB. This will enhance security at the facility. It will reconfigure a driveway, and authorize the county to give the improvements valued at $4,821,472 to Goodfellow.
- Rescinded the award of RFB 25-002 Parks Maintenance Contract to Site Sweep Services. It also awarded the contract to Comanche Landscaping Co. in the amount of $15,931 per month.
- Approved the reapplication for TxDOT Transportation Alternatives for accessible pathways in Grape Creek. Commissioner Bacon, said they had applied for this grant four times before. But he wanted to give it one-more shot as the grant would provide covered walkways at the school.
FAST FACTS: According to information from the Peterson Foundation, approximately 17-percent of local-governmental funding comes through federal grants. In 2022, the federal government distributed roughly $1.2 trillion in grants to state and local governments.
