November 12, 1942 – November 2, 2025
With a heart overflowing with love for Jesus and an unwavering spirit of compassion, Clara has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior. Born to Scottish and Italian heritage, Clara was one of eight children, a loving family that instilled in her the values of faith and service that would define her life.
From a young age, Clara’s heart was drawn to caring for others. This natural inclination blossomed as she lovingly babysat, a foreshadowing of her future as a devoted nurse. Her journey of faith began in childhood, nurtured by her father who instilled in her the importance of placing Jesus Christ at the center of her life. They shared a deep and abiding bond, growing in faith together throughout their years.
It was on the school bus as a high school sophomore that Clara met the love of her life, George. Their love story blossomed, leading to 55 beautiful years of marriage, a testament to their commitment to one another. Though George’s passing in 2019 left a void in her life, Clara continued to lean on her faith and the love of her family.
Together, Clara and George raised three children, Beth, Tom, and Kate, who filled their lives with joy, a touch of chaos, and endless love. As a mother, Clara poured her nurturing spirit into her children, while simultaneously pursuing her passion for nursing. She found her calling in caring for children with disabilities, a ministry she served with boundless compassion and empathy.
Clara’s family expanded to include cherished sons-in-law Ted and George, as well as daughter-in-law Susan, and beloved grandchildren Kristin (and her husband Jared), Ryan, Christopher, and Lauren. As “Nan,” she played a vital role in their lives, offering unwavering support, especially during the many moves and deployments associated with her son-in-law Ted’s Army career. Her love knew no bounds, and she was always ready with a helping hand, a listening ear, and a comforting presence.
Following George’s passing, Clara divided her time between Texas and Florida, eventually finding her home in San Angelo. There, she poured her heart into serving others, volunteering for Hospice of San Angelo (HOSA) and Shannon Medical Center. She also found joy in her creative pursuits, crafting beautiful Stampin’ Up cards and baking delicious cheesecakes. Community Bible Study provided her with continued spiritual nourishment, deepening her understanding of God’s word.
Clara found a loving and supportive community at The Heights Church, where she felt the palpable presence of God in the pastors, staff, and fellow members. It was there she found a true church home, a place where her faith could flourish and her love for Jesus could shine brightly.
Clara’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith and her boundless love for others. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, kindness, and a genuine desire to serve those in need. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
