Cactus Market Days quietly marked a dozen years in Downtown San Angelo this summer.

The monthly popup event, held in the parking lot across from the Cactus Hotel, has become an important outlet for many local home-based businesses.

Kamrynn Barber of K Mac’s Konfections said business was steady on Saturday.

The inaugural Cactus Market Days was held on Saturday, June 14, 2013, envisioned as a showcase for local designers, artists and craftspeople offering a variety of hand-made items for sale.

J&W Kreations sells sundries, and some very nice rosaries.

Cactus Market Days are held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month.

Local entrepreneur Judy Fowler got the ball rolling on Cactus Market Days, and she is still the contact person for the event.

Before the first event in 2013, she explained that the idea was born when an earlier downtown market, Old Town Second Saturdays, moved away from monthly sales.

“There needs to be something like this downtown,” she said. “Something monthly for the people, so they can do some shopping.”

If you are interested in participating in the event, call 325-949-6200.
