OBITUARY

Bernice Nixon Pruitt, 96. Our loving mother and granny went to her heavenly home November
20, 2025.

She was born November 4, 1929 in Robert Lee, Texas to James Joel and Dolly Long. She lived her life serving the Lord as a Sunday school teacher and music leader. She devoted her life to her family and spreading the gospel.

Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord, with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he should direct thy paths”.

Our mother was a seamstress by trade, and sewed for her family and numerous members of her community. Her love and kindness was immeasurable and she taught her children and grandchildren the importance of forgiveness, love, grace, and mercy. Her legacy will live on through each of us.

There are not enough words to describe what a beautiful soul our mother had and what she meant to her family, friends, and church. She married the love of her life, Dwain Pruitt, on August 21, 1982. They enjoyed travelling where she never passed up finding a beautiful rock and a bear to add to her collections.

She loved their adventures together for 25 years, their love was unending. He preceded her in death in March, 2008.

She is survived by her loving faithful companion, Angel. Her sister Lavelta Doolin (Bob), daughters: Donna Weatherby, Laura Brown (Charlie), her twin daughters Valarie Nixon and Leslie Nixon. Grandchildren: Brittany Hearn (Steven), John Burdett (Jennifer), Jason Halfmann (Taylor), Starzy Lee (Rashad), Aaron Sharp (Janelle), Jonathan Brits, Lance Brown (Sara), Jamie Pharr (Chris), Linsey Watt
(Shannon), Robin Weatherby-Martin, and Justin Hooper (Robyn). 30 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and special loving friend Johnnie Andrewson.
