OBITUARY

Ben Rucker of Eden, Texas passed away at his home on November 2, 2025. He was born to Obeda Gober Rucker and B.T. Rucker on April 29, 1939 in Shallowater, Texas. He grew up in Lubbock and attended Lubbock schools with his sister Sue and brother Don.

Ben graduated from Texas Tech University in 1961. He was a member of the rodeo team. He worked on the L7 Ranch and went to work for the Soil Conservation Service in 1964. He later switched agencies to Farmers Home Administration from which he retired.

Ben had a pilot’s license and loved to fly. He loved hunting and fishing all over the United States. He was an Eagle Scout and served as Scout master for several troops. Ben was a member of First Baptist Church of Eden and served as a deacon for many years.

He is survived by his daughter Debra Rucker Brown, his son Clay Rucker (Margo), his grandsons Collyn Brown, Seth Rucker (Joy), and Aaron Rucker and his great grandchildren Colton Rucker and Laney Rucker and Emery Rucker and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Eden Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at the Eden Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are by Harper Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to First Baptist Church of Eden, Meals for the Elderly or a charity of your choice.
