Angelo State University will host The Texas Tribune for a special live event titled “Rural Texas and the 2025 Legislative Session.” It will feature a one-on-one conversation between State Rep. Drew Darby and The Texas Tribune’s editor-in-chief, Matthew Watkins, followed by a presentation by The Texas Tribune’s regional reporters.

The event will take place at noon Tuesday, June 24 at the LeGrand Alumni and Visitors Center, 1620 University Ave.

The hourlong program will also be streamed live online at texastribune.org/events, where it will then also be available for on-demand viewing afterwards.

The discussion between Darby and Watkins will cover which bills passed, which ones didn’t pass, and how new laws will impact local communities. Topics will include the state budget, education, property taxes, water, social issues and more.
