OBITUARY

Anthony Joseph Massaro, age 91, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 14, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores Angela Massaro, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and devotion.

Anthony was born in Philadelphia, PA to Joseph and Mary Massaro, who preceded him in death, along with his sister, Marie Elaine Fritz, and her husband, Edwin M. Fritz.

After graduating from high school, Anthony proudly joined the United States Air Force, where he served honorably for 20 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. On March 2, 1957, he married his beloved wife, Dolores, and together they shared 65 years of marriage, building a life rooted in faith, family, and service. Following his military career, Anthony enjoyed a successful career in the insurance industry.

Anthony was deeply involved in his community and devoted much of his time to helping others. He was a passionate supporter of the Pregnancy Help Center and generously donated items for auctions benefiting Holy Angels Catholic Church. He was also very active in the San Angelo Chapter of the Pachyderm Club, where he proudly served as a past president.

Anthony is survived by his loving children: Toni and her husband, Tom Maurer, of San Angelo; Michael Massaro and his wife, Michelle, of San Antonio; and Tina and her husband, David Jones, of San Angelo. He is also survived by his sister, Kathleen Massaro of Philadelphia, PA. Anthony was a cherished uncle to Beth, Brian, Cheri, Teresa, Ricky, and Yevette.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Lyndale Assisted Living Facility for the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness shown to Anthony. He held a deep affection for the nurses and aides at Lyndale and truly valued their friendship. The family is also sincerely thankful for the many friends Anthony was blessed to make during his time there.

Additionally, the family wishes to express their profound appreciation to Dr. John Harvey, Dr. Samia Benslimane, Dr. Milo Anderson, and Nurse Practitioner Melissa Hogg of Shannon Clinic for their dedicated care, compassion, and unwavering support.

Anthony will be remembered for his steadfast faith, honorable service, generous spirit, and the love he freely shared with all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to attend the rosary at 6 p.m. on Friday, January 16, in the chapel at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
