OBITUARY

Amalio Garza Barrientes, 58, passed away Monday, October 27, 2025, in San Angelo.

Amalio was born May 9, 1967 in Brownfield, Texas to Jose V. Barrientes, Sr. and Eloisa Garza Barrientes. He was the 7th of 10 children and was so proud of that, that it became his lucky number throughout his life.

Amalio grew up in Denver City and the surrounding West Texas area.

He moved to San Angelo in 2011, and worked in the oilfield his entire life. He held many positions from an operator to field supervisor and everything in between.

Amalio loved to spend time with his family and friends, everyone that knew him would say he was a protector of the people he loved. He was a jokester who made sure everyone was always happy, loved to cookout and made sure everyone was fed, he loved reading his bible and serving the Lord.

Other than his luscious hair, as everyone would say, his greatest pride were his children and grandchildren, whom he loved immensely.

He was preceded in death by his mother and several aunts and uncles.

Amalio is survived by two daughters, Brittany Barrientes Hester and husband Eric of Pearland, Joclynne Clarkston and fiance Bryer Davis of Colorado City; two sons, Aldan Garza and wife Mandy of Pearland, Layton “Biscuit” Clarkston of Colorado City; father, Jose V. Barrientes, Sr.; four grandchildren, Madison Garza, Aviana Garza, Kaleigh Hester, Brayden Hester; five brothers, Felipe Barrientes and wife Mary, Jose Vasquez Barrientes, Jr. and wife April, Gregory Barrientes and wife Joanna, Samuel Garza Barrientes and wife Christy, Noel Barrientes and wife Sheila; four sisters, Andrea Chavira, Sylvia Roblez and husband Gilbert, Sara Pierce and husband Monty, Irma Reyes and husband James; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
