OBITUARY

Edith Allene Bowie, 87, of San Angelo, passed away on February 3, 2026. Born on October 31, 1938, in Cotton County, OK, to Hubert and Lois Dunagan, Allene lived a life marked by devotion, faithfulness, and selflessness.

Allene Bowie was a devoted wife to her husband L.R., whom she married at the tender age of 15. Together, they raised three children, and she extended her nurturing spirit to any friends her children brought home. Her family was the center of her world, and she was a devoted mother who cherished her role.

A homemaker by choice, Allene also worked for some time in child care. Her personal interests included playing board games with her family and working puzzles. She also enjoyed drag racing and took great pleasure in watching her husband L.R. and her son Wendell race.

Allene was a significant presence in the lives of her grandchildren, always there to support and guide them. Her selflessness knew no bounds; she was there for anyone in need, whether they were family or not. Her compassionate nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She is also survived by her brother, James Dunagan and wife Peaches; her sister, Mary White; eight great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Her funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel. A private burial will be held at Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
