The organization adopted it’s current name in 2019, but the effort traces back to 1960, with the founding of the San Angelo Council on Alcoholism.
The Halfway House of San Angelo was formed in 1969, known as the Williams house. In 1978, the Detoxification Center on River Drive opened its doors, and over time the organization expanded its service to drug abuse care as well.
The campaign for a larger recovery center began in 2014, opening it’s doors in 2020. The Journey Recovery Center hosts 72 beds, including 12 for detox.
